Returning home to the Sandhills of North Carolina in the mid 1970’s, McKenzie re-established himself as a full time professional photographer. Working out of his 2400 square foot studio located in Southern Pines, McKenzie has continued to provide quality photographic services that cover the Mid-Atlantic states.
In a constant effort to improve his photographic skills and to stay current with today’s ever-changing technologies, Don regularly attends seminars and workshops on conventional and digital photography. Don also maintains active memberships in the Professional Photographers of North Carolina, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.
Matt McKenzie was born into the family business and was put to work in the darkroom by the age of 12 years old. He started out washing prints and progressed to developing films and B&W printing. Being young and having a strong back, he was also frequently called upon to assist on commercial photography assignments. While in high school, Matt also served as one of the school newspaper photographers.
While attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Matt was able to work in sales at Carolina Camera Center, followed by another sales job with Walnut House Films in Aspen, Colorado.
He returned to Southern Pines and began his full time professional photography career in the spring of 2002, concentrating on weddings and portraits, with extra emphasis on digital photography, photographic restorations and Photoshop techniques.
